Investigative Journalist / KLAS-TV Las Vegas
KLAS-TV / Mystery Wire
George Knapp is an Emmy Award-winning investigative journalist based in Las Vegas who has covered UAP for over three decades. He is best known for breaking the Bob Lazar story in 1989 and for his sustained coverage of the government's relationship with the phenomenon, including reporting on Bigelow Aerospace's BAASS contract and Skinwalker Ranch.
Knapp has worked at KLAS-TV in Las Vegas for most of his career, covering everything from organised crime to nuclear testing. His 1989 interviews with Bob Lazar — who claimed to have worked on alien craft at a facility near Area 51 — became one of the most watched and debated stories in UFO history.
He has maintained ongoing relationships with sources inside the intelligence and aerospace communities and broke significant stories on BAASS, the Bigelow company contracted to run the AATIP research. He later co-authored "Skinwalker Ranch" with Colm Kelleher and co-produces television coverage through Mystery Wire.
Knapp has been a consistent connector between the intelligence community, private UAP research, and the public. He is regarded across the UAP community as a journalist who does not sensationalise and who protects his sources effectively.
